In this talk, interior designer and BIID President Elect, Gilly Craft, discusses using art in a healthcare environment and explores the benefits and potential challenges that must be considered when planning a design scheme for a healthcare setting, including in a home environment. Gilly will use real-life case studies from her work as an award-winning healthcare designer and offer advice and practical tips on how to utilise art in an environment where health and wellbeing are a top priority.

Gilly Craft, Managing Director and lead designer at Koubou Interiors, trained at the Regent Academy in London where she graduated with a Distinction. Gilly founded Koubou Interiors in 2004 previously having tutored at her local college in Interior Design.
Koubou Interiors specialisation in Healthcare design has meant that we have had the pleasure of working on a vast range of projects including the refurbishment of various departments at a NHS Hospital to include the design of a new wing, the refurbishment of a Private Hospital based in London, a centre for children with disabilities and their families which was opened in May this year by the Earl and Countess of Wessex, and most recently a Dental Practice.
Residential projects have included the complete remodel of the interior space of several properties together with the bespoke design of bathrooms and joinery.
Gilly understands the importance of getting to know her clients and taking the time to understand their brief, this enables her to focus on each design individually, ensuring that a client’s likes and dislikes, along with the functionality of the space are fully taken into account.
