Superb Quality Early Victorian Silver Table Snuff Box Birmingham 1839 Francis Clarke

This superb quality early Victorian silver table snuff box was made in Birmingham in 1839 by Francis Clarke and measures 3 3/8 inches in length by 2.25 inches wide and is 1 1/8 inches deep. It has beautifully cast decoration of flowers, foliage and scrolling acanthus leaves and gilded to the interior, the underside and sides are engine turned engraved and to the lid it bears the inscription 'Presented to Samuel Gaskell Esq by the Legators of the late Mr Thomas Holden'  and inside it is fully and clearly hallmarked to lid and base. A lovely box in excellent condition once belonging to a doctor weighing 5.80 ounces or 180 grams.
