Glittering Gold Boxes

Thursday 17th November, 11.30am
Followed by a 2-course buffet lunch with wine

Treasured and coveted by the rich and powerful, from Catherine the Great to the Rothschilds, for centuries gold boxes have represented the ultimate word in both luxury and craftsmanship. Often decorated with images of famous paintings, they are stunning to
behold.

Former BADA Chairman, Charles Truman, is one of the foremost experts on this subject and is presently completing his current endeavour, a new catalogue of the extensive collection of gold boxes in The Wallace Collection, to be published in early 2012. As a foretaste of what is to come Charles has kindly agreed to deliver this year’s BADA Lecture on this very subject. He will tell us about some of the exciting new discoveries he has made and the intriguing stories behind the magnificent boxes in the collection.

Ticket price: £45 including lecture and lunch
